Griffith, Kunze, and Polansky on Display at Schnormeier Gallery
April 4, 2013
MOUNT VERNON, OH - Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Schnormeier Gallery is currently featuring the work of three distinguished artists - Carol Griffith, Kerry Kunze, and Tara Plansky - in an exhibition running through April 19. On Thursday, April 4, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., the artists will speak about their work in a special gallery open house. Both the artist talk and the exhibition are free and open to the public.
The exhibition is currently on display in the Schnormeier Gallery, located inside MVNU's Buchwald Center, at 221 S. Main Street in historic downtown Mount Vernon, Ohio. The showcase includes a number of paintings, photographs, and other works on a variety of themes.
Griffith is currently Chair of the Painting Department and has been a Professor of Fine Arts at the Columbus College of Art and Design since 1986. She has taught drawing, painting and watercolor. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and have been seen in numerous juried and invitational shows.
Kunze is a graduating Fine Art Senior at the Columbus College of Art and Design. She works in several mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and video. Her art has developed many themes, mostly concerning veils, death, religion, and the human body. She intends to continue her education graduate school and looks forward to a lifetime as a studio artist.
Polansky, a professional artist, says, "I investigate the way memory functions, defining memory loosely to include events that we do not experience firsthand and people who we have never met but who are familiar to us. My work coalesces around photographic source imagery found in my family's old photo albums which catalogue happy occasions - birthdays, weddings, vacations."
