April 18, 2013
MOUNT VERNON, OH - Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Goliards Chamber Choir will present their spring concert "I Know I've Been Changed" on Thursday, April 18th, at 8:00 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Building. The concert is free, and the community is invited to attend.
Goliards, an a cappella chamber choir, consists of 16 members under the direction of Elizabeth Barrett. This concert will present a diverse repertoire of selections spanning many eras and several cultures. There will be selections in English, Latin, Slovak, and even Georgian. The group will present a couple of African-American Spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan and Damon Dandridge, as well as an arrangement of an American Folk Hymn from the Sacred Harp Tradition. In addition, there will be some lighter styles offered, with songs by George and Ira Gershwin and Billy Joel. The desire of the ensemble is to present well-written a cappella music with meaningful, inspirational texts. We hope you will join us!
