MVNU invites John C. Green to speak on Constitution Day

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University will host University of Akron's John C. Green, who will bring the first presentation of the 2012-2013 Lecture/Artist Series. The seminar, titled "Religion and Politics," will begin on September 17, at 10:20 a.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium, and will continue at 7:00 p.m. in the Price Student Union. This event is free and open to the public.
A Distinguished Professor of Political Science, John C. Greene is also a Senior Fellow with the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, receiving the most praise for his work on religion and politics. He is the Director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, where bipartisan research and teaching instruct students primarily on the elements of practical politics.
His authority on the subjects of religion and politics come from his long-term commitment to learning, receiving a Ph.D. from Cornell University, and his authorship on widely-used and acclaimed books such as The Bully Pulpit: The Politics of Protestant Clergy, Religion and Culture Wars: Dispatches from the Front, and The Diminishing Divide: Religion's Changing Role in American Politics. In addition to these works, he is co-editor of The State of the Parties, now in its fifth edition, Multiparty Politics in America, and Financing the 1996 Election. Green continues to observe Ohio and national politics, being quoted frequently on state and national media.
This event, in conjunction with the L/A Series, is also recognition of Constitution Day and MVNU's new Political Science program, which has been building momentum since its launch in 2011. Please join us for this relevant and exciting presentation.
