Columbus to Host MVNU Social Work Seminar

Columbus, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University-Columbus is hosting "Areas of Ethical Risk for Helping Professionals," a social work seminar, on Thursday, September 29, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Aimed at social workers, counselors and clergy members may also benefit from attending this one-day conference.

Karen S. Boyd, Chair of the Social Work Degree Completion Program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, will be the special guest speaker. The seminar is designed for social workers and others that often work in social service agencies. Program content will include: the characteristics of a professional relationship, professional boundaries, areas of ethical risk, ethical decision-making, and how to avoid ethical traps. The program will also help participants to identify those areas where he or she may be most at risk and to learn how to avoid making ethical mistakes.

Boyd is a licensed independent professional social worker with a supervision endorsement. She has a B.A. in sociology and history from MVNU and a Master of Arts degree in sociology and a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University.

MVNU-Columbus is conveniently located at 2000 Polaris Parkway, Suite 130. Cost for the event is $25 if registered before September 5, and $30 after that date. Three CEUs are offered and a continental breakfast will be provided.
