MVNU brings social work conference to Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University-Cincinnati is hosting "A Bully Is a Bully No Matter How Small (or Big)," a social work conference, on Friday, September 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aimed at social workers, counselors and clergy members may also benefit from attending this one-day conference.

Special guests include Dr. Cricket Meehan, Coordinator of School Mental Health Projects at Miami University's Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs. Dr. Meehan's presentation will address four key areas: what bullying is, the impact of bullying on affected students, relevant and practical skills for professionals who want to prevent and intervene in bullying behaviors, and information about anti-bullying resources that are currently available to assist professionals.
Fellow presenter, Theresa Singleton, is a long-time advocate of women's issues and is actively committed to ensuring their rights and protection in Greater Cincinnati and beyond. Ms. Singleton has worked for the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati for twenty-one years, where she currently holds the position of Director, Protection from Abuse. As the PFA Director, Ms. Singleton supervises and is responsible for the YWCA's state- of- the- art Battered Women's Shelter, House of Peace, Eastern Area Court & Sexual Assault Programs, Transitional Living Housing Programs, Alliance for Immigrant Women, The Strategic Humane Intervention Project and Domestic Violence Impacts the Workplace. She is passionate about dispelling misconceptions that surround victims of intimate partner violence and works to educate a broad range of professionals about the serious and sometimes fatal consequences of intimate partner violence.
MVNU-Cincinnati is conveniently located at 11260 Chester Road, Suite 800, off of I-75 and Exit 15 in Sharonville. Cost for the event is $25 if registered before September 16, and $30 after September 16. Six CEUs are offered; continental breakfast and a boxed lunch are provided.
