MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University is excited to welcome twelve new faculty members and three teaching assistants for the 2011-12 academic year. Together with current professors, they join a faculty of more than 300, including adjuncts.

These new faculty members include: Margaret Allotey-Pappoe, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design;Andrew S. Belleman, Assistant Professor of Education; Kathleen Clark, Associate Professor of Social Work; Christopher J. Devine, Assistant Professor of Political Science; Jason Foster, Assistant Professor of Sports Management; Debra Garee, Instructor of Nursing; Dean Goon, Assistant Professor of Education; Judy Gregg, Instructor of Nursing; Bob Hamill, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor of Business; Angie Harper, Teaching Assistant; Andrew Hendrixson, Assistant Professor of Art; Sophie Lei, Teaching Assistant; Traci L. McCarty, Assistant Professor of Social Work; Erin Ricker, Teaching Assistant; Lynn E. Shoemaker, Assistant Professor of Education.

Dean Goon says, "I am very excited to begin teaching this fall for the graduate department of education. I am looking forward to meeting my new students and sharing with them my passion for teaching and learning."

Christopher Devine offers, "I'm excited and blessed to be a part of MVNU and to help launch the new Political Science program. Political Science is not only one of the most popular majors in the United States, but it is an ideal discipline for learning critical thinking and writing skills. I look forward to working with the new Political Science students and helping to enrich their education not just in the classroom, but through events like our upcoming Constitution Day presentation by OSU professor Dr. Larry Baum, one of the nation's leading experts on the Supreme Court and judicial behavior, on September 19 at 7:00 PM."
