Hendershott to present at MVNU diversity seminar

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio-Author Joe Hendershott will speak at an upcoming diversity seminar at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Thursday, October 20. The presentation, "Understanding and Reaching the Wounded Student," will be part of an event held at 6 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium and is free and open to the public.

Based on his book, "Reaching the Wounded Student," and his extensive experience with troubled youth in school systems, Hendershott will explore alternative discipline techniques that are geared toward changing behavior and keeping kids in school. As president of his own consulting firm, Hendershott's presentations are designed to educate and empower anyone working with children that are wounded and how to get them to achieve through various programs that include esteem building and emotional development. His vision states that "all children are valuable and can achieve their full potential when they are esteemed and empowered by grace, love and hope."

Hendershott and his wife, Dardi, are co-founders of Hope 4 The Wounded Seminars. His career spans more than twenty years, which includes experience as a high school assistant and head principal, alternative school principal, and principal at Boys' Village School (a residential treatment facility). A graduate of The Ohio State University, Hendershott holds a Master's Degree in school administration from Ashland University. He now resides in Ashland, Ohio, with his wife and six children and is currently the Director of Field Experience at Ashland University.
