Four Nazarene institutions of higher learning completed a consortium purchase of the Colleague administrative software from Ellucian (formerly Datatel+SGHE) on March 29, creating yet another collaborative arrangement between the sister schools following the formation of an insurance consortium in 2010. Mount Vernon Nazarene University will serve as the lead administrator for the group, which also includes Eastern Nazarene College, Southern Nazarene University, and Trevecca Nazarene University.

Ellucian is a premiere technology company that serves hundreds of colleges and universities, having focused solely on higher education for more than 40 years. The new arrangement provides numerous benefits for the participating Nazarene schools including significant cost savings and cooperative maintenance while also streamlining Help Desk support, training and user interfaces. The software will be jointly implemented over the next two years. Olivet Nazarene University, which already uses Ellucian products, has agreed to assist in facilitating the transition.

"This is yet another opportunity for Nazarene institutions to leverage our shared vision for Christian Higher Education," said Jeff Spear, Vice President for Finance at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. "By working together, we gain a real advantage in the market, allowing us to more effectively serve our constituents."

"We look forward to continuing and expanding our productive partnerships with Nazarene institutions and helping them advance their shared mission," said Bruce Bleiman, Senior Vice President, North America Customer Relationships, Ellucian. "This collaborative approach will help the institutions share resources and best practices while serving their individual constituents."

The four institutions are sponsored and governed by regional districts of the Church of the Nazarene and support the mission of the church, "To make Christlike disciples in the nations."
