The students, all Junior Nursing majors, were traveling to their clinical assignments at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville when the accident occurred. The details of the accident are still unknown at this time. The other party involved suffered minor injuries and was not admitted to the hospital.

All five students were taken to Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Their families were contacted immediately, and MVNU faculty and staff members were onsite and in communication with family members throughout the day. The campus community was informed of the accident through email and a brief announcement during Friday's chapel service. Dr. Henry Spaulding, MVNU Provost; Professor Eric Browning, Director of Counseling and Wellness; and other faculty and staff members met with nursing students separately.

Williams, from Centerburg, Ohio, was transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus due to the severity of her injuries. She remained in critical condition and never fully recovered. Funeral arrangements for Williams have not yet been made.

Rev. Scott Peterson, University Chaplain, will lead the campus community in a time of prayer during the chapel service on Monday morning, October 10. Counseling has been made available for students, faculty and staff through the Counseling Office or Campus Ministries.

Please pray for Justina's family and friends, the other students involved, and the MVNU campus community during this difficult time.
