Join MVNU for annual Women's Auxiliary Spring Conference
March 18-19, 2011
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Women's Auxiliary will hold its annual Spring Conference on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19, 2011.
With an emphasis on spiritual renewal, fellowship and musical entertainment, the retreat is for women of all ages. A silent auction will also highlight the event.
Special guest for the retreat will be Lisa Harper, whose writing and speaking overflows with colorful pop culture references that connect the dots between the Bible era and modern life. Harper has been lauded as a gifted communicator who is both a hilarious storyteller and a theological scholar.
Harper spent six years as the director of Focus on the Family’s national women’s ministry, followed by six years as the women’s ministry director at a large church in Nashville. She has presented at Women of Faith and Winsome Women conferences, among several others, has been on numerous syndicated radio and TV programs and is a columnist with “Today’s Christian Woman” magazine. Harper has written several books including “Relentless Love” and “Every Woman’s Hope.”
Music for the Spring Conference will be provided by Grammy-nominated, multi-Dove award-winning vocalist Kim Hill. Hill was ignited with the desire to lead others in worship with Focus on the Family asked her to lead worship at their inaugural Renewing the Heart women’s conference in 1997. Since then, she has had the opportunity to lead thousands of women across America and Africa in worship. As a 22-year music veteran, Hill recently released her 14th album, “Surrender.” She continues to offer a fresh perspective, great content and vibrant vocals.
Juggling the roles of recording artist, worship leader, speaker and single mom of two teenage boys, Hill says, “Worship is my lifeline. In the craziness of my life, whether it’s in a real crisis or the ‘fire drill’ of getting my boys to school in the morning, focusing on the Lord through worship helps keep everything in perspective.”
There are three conference options available to attendees. Plan 1 is $35 and includes Friday and Saturday sessions. Plan 2 is $20 and attendees may choose Friday’s or Saturday’s sessions. Plan 3 is for those who are unable to attend but wish to gain membership into Women’s Auxiliary for $5. Friday’s events begin at 4 p.m. and the retreat ends around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Dining is offered a la cart for affordable prices. Pay at theMVNU Dining Commons.

The Women’s Auxiliary of MVNU was founded in 1980 from a campus organization for women called “The Lakeholm Ladies.” The first on-campus retreat was held in 1981. The purpose was to provide a broader knowledge of University affairs across the MVNU region; to provide fellowship among, and for, women across the region; to secure scholarships for MVNU students; and to contribute gifts for special projects. The Auxiliary has awarded more than 350 scholarships totaling more than $335,000. At minimum, 15 $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually.
