MVNU’s United Generations Gospel Choir and Kenyon College choirs will present “Restore. Rebuild. A New Haiti.” benefit concert on Saturday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium. Special guests include Wonda Williams and speaker Pastor Larry L. Mann. Admission is free but donations will be collected to benefit Haiti. Kenyon College Professor Dr. Nikole Hotchkiss and her senior Legal Studies Seminar class and MVNU Multicultural Affairs are presenting an academic panel on immigration on MVNU’s campus on Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the Jetter School of Business, room 133. The panel will include three MVNU professors and three Kenyon professors. The specific topic will be the "myth busting" of many misconceptions people have of documented and undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
“The Kenyon students are in the process of creating an educational pamphlet for the event that will illustrate personal stories of Kenyon and MVNU students' experiences regarding immigration,” said Jim Singletary, MVNU’s director of Multicultural Affairs. “We want to put a human face on a debate that has exploded in this country, as well as highlight the effect of laws and policies at the individual level.”
MVNU is pleased to provide these events for all ages where participants can be enriched in their understanding and appreciation of international culture. For more information on these events or about MVNU, please visit www.mvnu.edu/news or contact (740) 397-9000, ext. 4606.
