“The idea behind creating the Novia Care Clinic was to establish another relationship between the patient and the doctor, and to promote employee health and wellness initiatives,” said Patrick Rhoton, director of Human Resources at MVNU. “Because the clinic is located on campus, MVNU employees utilizing the clinic will have more one-on-one time with the physician and less wait time than one might have in a traditional medical office setting.” Visits are scheduled for 20 minutes, with initial consultations being 40 minutes.

MVNU Novia CareClinicAt first, the clinic is expected to be open about 12 hours a week, with access to a 24-hour nurse phone line. Many common prescriptions will be dispensed on site at no cost to eligible employees. Plus, University administrators believe the clinic will save MVNU health care expenses by creating an overall healthier work environment. Employees will have a personal health coach to answer questions and assist in complying with treatment regimens or medication.

Use of the clinic is completely voluntary. Employees covered under the health care plan may still visit their primary physicians and specialists, and obtain their medications at the pharmacy of their choice. This is just a separate benefit provided by MVNU.

Novia CareClinics believes that on-site primary care clinics offer an opportunity for employers to reduce their benefit plan costs, while at the same time, providing improved benefits to their employees. Many large employers have created on-site medical clinics. Through these clinics, employers are able to integrate wellness initiatives and provide medical services to their employees. Novia enables smaller and mid-size companies, as well as larger organizations with geographically dispersed sites, to have the opportunity to emulate this approach.

Novia currently operates 26 clinics for 24 different sponsoring employers, and is completely independent, having no ownership by medical service providers in any form. To learn more, visit www.noviacareclinics.com.
