Women of all ages invited to MVNU Spring Retreat
March 12-13, 2010
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Women’s Auxiliary will hold its annual Spring Retreat on Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13, 2010. With an emphasis on spiritual renewal, fellowship and musical entertainment, the retreat is for women of all ages.
A silent auction will also highlight the event.
Special guest for the retreat will be Lysa TerKeurst, who helps everyday women live an adventure of faith through following Jesus Christ. As president of Proverbs 31 (P31) Ministries, she leads thousands each year to make their walk with God an invigorating journey. Her message enables women to discover how small acts of trusting God can lead to unexpected joy; distinguish His voice and direction with confidence; and experience God’s activity in parenting, marriage, and friendships.
TerKeurst and her P31 team encourage over 250,000 women daily through the ministry’s online devotional. She serves as co-host of P31 national radio program, aired on over 1,200 stations around the world. Her blog is read daily by over 1,300 fans, and she touches hearts each month as a featured writer for the magazine “P31 Woman.”
The best-selling author of 12 books, TerKeurst’s latest release is “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God.” She has been published in numerous Christian and women’s magazines and is a frequent speaker at events such as “Extraordinary Women” and “Renewal of the Heart.” Her personal faith has captured the attention of national media, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, and USA Today.
Music for the spring retreat will be provided by MVNU’s Praise & Worship teams. These dynamic students love to share their excitement and joy for Christ through the ministry of song. From a variety of backgrounds and representing and array of academic majors and interests, these MVNU students will lead the worship experience utilizing traditional favorites and modern choruses.

The Women’s Auxiliary of MVNU was founded in 1980 from a campus organization for women called “The Lakeholm Ladies.” The first on-campus retreat was held in 1981. The purpose was to provide a broader knowledge of University affairs across the MVNU region; to provide fellowship among, and for, women across the region; to secure scholarships for MVNU students; and to contribute gifts for special projects. Last year, the Auxiliary awarded 20 scholarships of $1,000 each. More than $300 thousand has been awarded in scholarships to date.
