Christian influential to speak on "Salting the Culture"

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Barry Landis, one of Christian Radio/Retail Weekly Magazine's Top 50 Most Influential People in America, will visit Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday, Sept. 15. He will speak on "Salting the Culture" at 7:30 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall.

The event is free and open to the public and is the first of MVNU's 2009-10 Lecture/Artist Series, a series of visiting scholars, artists and performers.

Landis graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1973 with an associate degree and continued his education at Trevecca Nazarene University and Western Kentucky University.  Landis went on to become a Warner Bros. Records entertainment executive for 20 years. Soon after, he founded Landis Entertainment and Media Partners, a faith-based consulting firm and entertainment advisory group. For nearly five years, Landis Entertainment has been helping clients enter the faith-based market.

Throughout his career, Landis has enjoyed many awards and recognitions. He has thirteen Gold Record awards from artists whom he has assisted and several Gold Video awards. Furthermore, Landis has several Platinum Record awards and a Triple Platinum award. Landis has published two books, “Devotional Ventures” and “Bob Briner’s Final Roar.” In addition, he has received Outstanding Alumnus awards from both Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Western Kentucky University.
