Business ethics subject of free MVNU conference

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) program will hold its annual Business Ethics Conference on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 22 and 23, on the MVNU campus.
Kenneth Blackwell and Monty Lobb will be the featured guests.
Local businesses are encouraged to attend. High school students interested in future careers in business, finance, accounting or marketing are invited to participate as well.
The conference begins on Monday night in Thorne Performance Hall with Blackwell as the keynote speaker at 7 p.m. Blackwell has a distinguished record of achievement as a finance executive, entrepreneur, diplomat, educator and independent corporate director. He is one of the nation’s leading conservative voices and a strong advocate of free market enterprise. Blackwell’s public service includes terms as mayor of Cincinnati, treasurer of the State of Ohio and Secretary of State, among many others. He’ll be speaking on “The Threat to America’s Moral Foundation in Her Third Century.”
Registration begins at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday with the conference getting underway at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Monty Lobb will be one of two session speakers; the second is to be determined. Lobb’s session is titled, “Character Ethics: Can They Be Recovered, and How?” Over the years, he has served as an attorney, assistant Secretary of State for Ohio, campaign manager and has worked with many advocacy programs, among many other roles. He is currently president of Kenosis Limited, an organizational change consulting firm.
