"The Pirates of Penzance" tells the story of Frederic, who, upon leaving his band of pirates, makes the acquaintance of the beautiful Mabel, with whom he becomes romantically interested. However, upon learning that she’s the daughter of a Major-General, conflict and musical comedy ensue between the two sides.
"Working with such an eager-to-learn production team has been a fabulous experience,” says technical director and community familiar Leah Andrews. “The students have taken an active role in every aspect of this show.”
The musical stars Adam Behr, a junior drama major from Mount Vernon, as the fearsome but refined Pirate King. The Major-General will be played by Andrew Pugh, a junior music and math education major. Mabel will be played by both Leah Ralston, a freshman music-graphic design double-major, and Alicia Brooks, a sophomore psychology major. Frederic will also be double cast, portrayed by Matthew Vecchi, a freshman in pastoral ministry, and Viladate Chaialee, a freshman music major.
Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $5 for students, children under 12, and seniors over 65. Call (740) 397-9000, ext. 1620, to reserve tickets, or purchase them at the door.
