Celebrate Christmas with MVNU music festival

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- The Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present the biennial Christmas Festival on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7:15 p.m., in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium.

The community is invited to join in celebrating the season with a wide variety of Christmas music. The concert will feature most of the Music Department choral and instrumental ensembles. Collegians Chorale will present Eric Whitacre's “Lux Aurumque” and “Noel” sung in the Kituba dialect of the Congo, Africa.

Other selections will include “O frondens virga,” sacred music of the middle ages, by Treble Singers; “Lo, How A Rose E’re Blooming” by Goliards Chamber Ensemble’ “Greensleeves Fantasia” by the Flute Choir; and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by the Jazz Band.

The “Shepherds Chorus” will also be presented by the cast of “Amahl & The Night Visitors” and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform the concert finale “Russian Christmas Music.”
