Men are like waffles, Women are like spaghetti
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- WNZR, 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, presents their tenth annual Valentine's Banquet on Friday, Feb. 15.
This years theme is Men are like waffles, Women are like spaghetti and will feature material from authors Pam and Bill Farrel. The Farrels are co-directors of Farrel Communications, a ministry dedicated to helping build successful relationships.
Pam and Bill Farrel have a regular newspaper column on relationships that appears in several cities and their writing has been published in numerous magazines. They have been featured on many radio shows including Focus on the Family, Parent Talk, Family Life Today and the Moody broadcast network. The Farrels are popular TV guests too appearing on FOX, ABC, NBC and CBS. They also co-authored the books Red Hot Monogamy and Every Marriage is a Fixer-Upper.
WNZR’s Valentines Banquet will be held in the President’s Dining Room on the MVNU campus. Tickets are $16 per person and include a full buffet dinner, entertainment and door prizes. The event begins at 7 p.m. The buffet style meal will feature hearty meat lasagna, teriyaki chicken breast, rosemary red skinned potatoes, buttered corn, French cut green beans, honey-glazed carrots and house salad. Dessert is brownie a la mode. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.
Special music entertainment will be provided by MVNU student Tori Morse who will provide violin music during the dinner. An ensemble of WNZR staff will also be singing during the program.
“I am so excited about this year’s theme”, said Station Manager Marcy Rinehart. “The Farrels will help us realize that men and women can understand one another's differences and learn to delight in them. Our staff hopes that this event can provide some tools to help build stronger relationships.”
WNZR also plans to distribute over $500 worth of prizes throughout the evening, courtesy of local businesses.

Tickets are on sale now at the WNZR studios, located on the second floor of Founder’s Hall on the MVNU campus, and at Gospel Supply Shop, 117 South Main Street in Mount Vernon. The deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 10am and seating is limited. All profits from this year’s Valentine’s Banquet will support nine MVNU Broadcasting students who plan to attend the Christian Music Broadcasters Convention in April.
