MVNU presents 40th performance of Handel’s “Messiah”
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present the 40th annual performance of G.F. Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.
This free event will take place in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium on the MVNU campus.
The presentation will be performed by the MVNU Choral Union, faculty and guest soloists and a chamber orchestra. Soloists include Dr. David Liles, tenor, and Virginia Cameron, contralto, both from the MVNU music faculty; Jocelyn McDonald Fisher, a professional soprano from Nashville, Tenn.; and David Templeton, a professional singer from Columbus returning for his 10th year as bass soloist. John Packard, an MVNU music faculty member, and guest musician James Becker will assist on trumpet. David Robinson will return as the harpsichordist for the performance.
The 160-voice Choral Union includes the combined choirs of MVNU and community singers. Professor of Music and Director of MVNU's Collegians Chorale, Dr. Robert Tocheff, will conduct the performance.
The program is open to the public without admission charge. Donations will be accepted for MVNU music scholarships. Parking is available from Martinsburg Road and Campus Drive. For more information, contact Tressa Daley at (740) 392-6868, ext. 3000.
