Outdoor concert features music for everyone
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University will offer the annual outdoor Gazebo Concert on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in the MVNU grove. The community is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and come enjoy this free event.
The concert will be moved to the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium in case of inclement weather.
The concert will feature three of the MVNU instrumental ensembles. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble directed by Dr. John Packard will perform “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli and “Olympic Spirit,” “The March from ‘1941,’” and “Young Person’s Guide to John Williams” by John Williams.
The Flute Choir directed by Dr. Emily Butterfield will present two Douglas Smith arrangements titled “I Will Arise and Go to Jesus” and “I Love Thee,” in addition to “Tambourin” by F.J. Gossec.
The Jazz Band, directed by Rick Brunetto, will also perform a variety of music.
