Double concert showcases senior honors musicians and Collegians Chorale
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Collegians Chorale, Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s concert choir, will share the stage with senior music students as these graduates are honored at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium.
Senior performers include Tabitha Hansher, flute; Victoria Morse, violin; Anna Thomas, vocal; Ryan McPeeks, vocal; Jeffrey McRill, composition; and Bradley Jerew, trumpet. Each of these students will perform a selection from their senior recital repertoire.
Collegians Chorale will perform selections from their spring tour as well as specially prepared pieces. The program will include “All Breathing Life Sing” and “Praise Ye the Lord” by Bach; “The Conversion of Saul” by Stroope; “Praise the Name of the Lord” by Sharpe; “God Thou Art Love” by Courtney, “Non Nobis Domine” by Doyle (from the film Henry V), “Blagosloví dushé moyá Ghóspoda” by Ippolitov-Ivanov, “Climbin’ Up the Mountain” by Hogan, “Saints Bound for Heaven” arranged by Wilberg, and the novelty piece “Four Whatevers” by Wilkinson.
Collegians Chorale is a select SATB ensemble that travels to churches throughout Ohio, West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, sharing God’s message through song. In the past decade, the group has also traveled on concert/missions tours abroad to Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, The Netherlands, The Czech Republic, Germany and Russia. They also perform frequently on campus for events such as Chapel, Advent service, a spring concert and Baccalaureate. They are an integral part of the Choral Union’s annual Messiah performance. This ensemble presents a wide variety of musical styles including sacred classics, hymn arrangements, spirituals, gospel and contemporary songs. Members represent a variety of academic majors and denominational backgrounds.
