Business ethics subject of free MVNU conference

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) program will hold its annual Business Ethics Conference on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 25 and 26, on the MVNU campus.

Wayne Penrod and Monty Lobb will be the featured guests.

Local businesses are encouraged to attend. High school students interested in future careers in business, finance, accounting or marketing are invited to participate as well.

The conference begins on Monday night in the President’s Dining Room with Wayne Penrod as the keynote speaker at 6 p.m. Penrod is a Christian businessman who has served as owner or division president, to-date, of 70 different companies, many of which are Fortune 500 companies. Involved in his community, Penrod is the board chair for Target Dayton Ministries, is a member of Dayton Parkview Church of the Nazarene and has led a Bible study in his home every week for 35 years.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the conference getting underway at 9 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. MVNU Associate Professor Monty Lobb will be the keynote speaker for the morning session, “Character + Collaboration = Community.” Over the years, Lobb has served as an attorney, assistant Secretary of State for Ohio, campaign manager and has worked with many advocacy programs, among many other roles. He is currently president of Kenosis Limited, an organizational change consulting firm. Two break-out sessions and a working lunch will also be held on topics such as home loans and finances, business law, healthcare and legal ethics.
