Nurses have new option for degree completion at MVNU
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Starting in February, Mount Vernon Nazarene University will offer a baccalaureate completion program for registered nurses.
It will be offered on the Mount Vernon campus at first and will be expanded to additional site locations later in 2008.
Program Details
The program offers a convenient schedule for working adults, enabling registered nurses to complete a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing in as little as four semesters. Students attend class one full day a week over a 13-week semester at the Mount Vernon campus. Registered nurses with degrees from accredited associate or diploma degree-granting programs are welcome to apply.
Having a B.S. Matters
"Advances in science and technology have increased the knowledge and skill level needed by nurses. Health care information and scientific discovery will continue to increase rapidly, creating a great challenge for professional nurses,” said Dr. Teresa Wood, dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. “MVNU’s RN completion program offers a unique experience to prepare nurses for the challenges they face in the 21st century. An evidence-based curriculum provides the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to provide patient-centered care in an increasingly complex health care environment.”
Our Faculty are Experts
MVNU’s nursing faculty members are practicing nurse experts in a variety of fields. All faculty maintain an active clinical practice to maintain their competency in clinical nursing care. Faculty are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice, and providing students with the resources needed to succeed. Small class sizes and personal advising are designed to assist students in reaching their career goals.
"The integrated program incorporates a strong liberal arts foundation designed to improve the clinical judgment, critical reasoning and communication skills essential to professional nursing practice,” said Wood. “Completing the B.S. can also lead to expanded practice opportunities.”
