Professor Judy Chesnut chosen as Honorary Alumni
Judy Chesnut, Spanish professor and pioneer faculty member,
was honored at the class of 1999 graduation banquet as an honorary
alumna. Professor Chesnut has watched, and been a part of the
growth and development of MVNC since the beginning. She has received
the President's Excellence in Teaching Award twice in her tenure.
Advising and nurturing students through their college days with
academic and emotional support is her speciality. Professor Chesnut
says, "Working students both academically and personally
is my fulfillment."
When she is not teaching, she is busy using her Spanish language
skills in the community and around the world. She spends her
summers traveling and has visited 31 countries. In addition to
all her responsibilities she collects and delivers supplies to
the needy in Nicaragua and has been involve in this for ten years.
Professor Chesnut also aids Spanish speaking people in the community
by translating, counseling, and facilitating their integration
into the American culture. She speaks at various church and community
functions, as well as translating and interpreting for the Church
of the Nazarene. The MVNC alumni association is proud to welcome
Judy Chesnut into its membership.
