MVNU has definitely offered me the opportunity to move up in my business, both with pay increases and promotions.
-Elizabeth Peters – BBA Student, Class of 2005

[The] curriculum is based around real-world business examples, which is what I deal with everyday.
-John Randall – BBA Student, Class of 2005

We used to go to another university and we transferred to Mount Vernon so we could finish our degree in 22 months!
-Richard and Susan Braun – Both BBA Student’s, Class of 2005

It was so simple to transfer my Associate degree from NCSC into the BBA program at MVNU. The staff truly went the extra mile to assist me through the entire process. The excellent customer service, in combination with the convenient, all-inclusive format of the BBA program made MVNU a natural choice for me!
-Christine Szeker – BBA Student

I'm amazed at MVNU's concern for the student. I'm glad I chose this university. MVNU has done many things for me that other universities said they wouldn't. They were even amazed by MVNU when I told them about your ways. If MVNU treats their employees nearly as well as their students I'm sure it's a great place to work.
-Julie Powers – BBA Student, Class of 2007

The text that has been chosen for the first class is awesome! I've used Franklin Covey for years and it's interesting to get into the brain of the master mind. This will not only help me as a student but in many other aspects of my life. The information given totally makes sense.
-Julie Powers – BBA Student, Class of 2007

AGS Alumni

The whole program is really designed around challenging you to be a better manager.
-Brian Bagley – BBA Student, Class of 2005

I checked around at the different colleges in an approximate 100 mile radius of the Lima area and MVNU was just opening a campus in Lima. I was very impressed by their program. As a working individual, the one night per week was a necessity and the Christian values of the school are second to none. Everyone from top to bottom really care about the students, and you are more than just a number.  What I have received from MVNU is much, much more than just a degree. MVNU not only stretches your academic abilities, but they challenge you to become a more well-rounded person. I have a renewed confidence in my abilities as a person, a restored sense of purpose, and most importantly, a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  When I received my BBA degree, I felt that I could conquer the world. Since that time, I have also received by Masters degree from MVNU and there is no limit to what I can do.  The job that originally was denied me, I received shortly after finishing the BBA program. I am currently in that position, but with my Masters degree, I plan to keep advancing.
-Dale Seibert – BBA Alumnus

I had a big letdown with the grad program I was supposed to be starting next week. The disorganization, lack of communication, and last minute action is not acceptable from an expensive private school. The day the tuition was due; there were still no books available. MVNU has set the bar pretty high on customer service, so I will not settle for incompetence.
Paula Cohen – BBA Alumnus, Class of 2000

This program has changed my life in the fact it’s given me new meaning and new understanding of continuing education. I’ve never thought I would ever go get my master’s degree, because it was rather intimidating at first. But the experience here at Mount Vernon, and the curriculum that they have provided me is not intimidating at all!
-Ann Neibarger

I’ve had terrific professors, just really great people that have brought so much to the classroom. They’ve been teachers, they’ve been principles, they’ve been superintendents, and they’ve brought just a wealth of experience.

That Hokey Family Feeling: The BBA Cohort Experience

As an instructor for the Business Research Project sequence within the BBA program, often I am privileged to be the students’ last instructor. Over the years, I have informally taken a survey of the students’ responses to the uniqueness of the BBA program. Without exception, the cohort model of the BBA program is viewed as the best feature. Recently, a BBA cohort completed the program. Over the fourth of July break; many students in that cohort went on a camping/fishing trip together. The joy and laughter filled the Polaris classroom—it sounded like a family sharing their experiences.

A few years ago, I witnessed an incredible intervention of a cohort “saving” one of the members from dropping out of the program. The class session was over for the evening and a few students were completing some coursework. During that time, one of the students shared that she was going to drop out. She had recently gone through a divorce (since the beginning of the program). She found that emotionally, she could not continue to handle the load of work, travel, schoolwork without her ex-spouse. The other students immediately challenged her remain in the program. This intervention session went on for a long period of time. As an instructor, I simply listened to the conversation. I was not certain if they had convinced her when she left for the evening. However, several months later I had this cohort for another course—she was still enrolled. This is an example of the “support” that members within a cohort give to each other.

Students often say that they found it a little “hokey” when told by recruiters that the BBA cohort model has a “family” feel. However, after experiencing it—most cohorts view it as a “family.
