MVNU School of Business awarded initial accreditation
MOUNT VERNON , Ohio – The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) announced that Mount Vernon Nazarene University was awarded initial accreditation of its School of Business by the ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners. MVNU will be awarded a certificate of accreditation during the 16th ACBSP Annual Conference in Chicago on June 19, 2006.
Douglas G. Viehland, executive director of the ACBSP, spoke of the accomplishment of this accreditation, “ Mount Vernon Nazarene University has shown their commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation, and then continuing the process of quality improvement. This accreditation is evidence of MVNU’s commitment to quality business programs.”
“The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs’ accreditation illustrates the quality and commitment of excellence in our Adult and Graduate Studies programs,” said Adult and Graduate Studies Vice President, Dr. Randall K. Wells. “The contribution of our faculty, their professional and academic credentials; combined with academic majors which meet the expectations and scrutiny of the business world, further validate the quality and value of MVNU's Adult and Graduate Studies programs.”
For institutions that achieve accreditation for their business schools and programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The ratification of accreditation by ACBSP covers a ten-year period during which time MVNU must continually reaffirm its quality through periodic reports.
ACBSP’s mission is to establish, promote and recognize educational practices that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business education programs, teaching of business courses and student learning outcomes in colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and abroad. ACBSP was established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both two-year and four-year institutions. ACBSP has over 400 member institutions and is located in Overland Park, Kansas. For more information, go to www.acbsp.org.
