Dr. Daniel J. Martin
MVNU President
Dr. Daniel J. Martin was announced as Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s sixth president on November 2, 2006. MVNU welcomes him as he officially takes office on February 1, 2007.

Dr. Daniel Martin has served in a number of roles in Nazarene higher education. Prior to his most recent assignment as vice president of University Advancement at Point Loma Nazarene University, he served at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan., in various roles such as the vice president for Finance, vice president for Enrollment Development and executive assistant to the president.

Martin has two earned doctorate degrees in education from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Kansas. He also holds a law degree from the University of Kansas and a license with the Kansas Bar Association. His areas of academic study and research focus on organizational culture and leadership.

MVNU Board Chair Dr. David P. Wilson shared, "I am looking forward to a bright future for MVNU under the leadership of Dr. Dan Martin. He is a passionate, skilled and well respected professional, uniquely qualified to lead MVNU into the 21st century with energy and vision."

Martin's wife, Pam, graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She has taught in public schools and most recently served as an associate children's pastor at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene. They have two sons, Jacob (10) and Josh (8), who are involved in a variety of activities and whose favorite hobby is visiting amusement parks.

Dr. Margie Bennett
Executive Assistant to the President for Planning, Institutional Research, and Compliance
Bennett has served as an MVNU faculty member, assistant director of Development, interim director of Development, MVNU’s Self-Study coordinator for two comprehensive accreditation visits, and Collaboration Task Force chair and coordinator. Currently, she is professor of mathematics and director of Institutional Research and Planning and serves on the president’s administrative cabinet, the budget planning council and a variety of academic and administrative committees. Bennett is also active on numerous boards and committees throughout the Knox County community and at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene. Her husband Fordyce is a professor of English at MVNU, and they have two grown daughters, Kari and Kristy, and one granddaughter.

Dr. Randie Timpe
Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean
Serving at MVNU since 1975, Timpe earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Nazarene University (then Bethany Nazarene College) in Oklahoma, his master’s degree from Wichita State University in Kansas, and his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University where his focus was experimental social psychology. He has served MVNU in various roles, including psychology/sociology department head, assistant academic dean, associate dean of instruction, assistant vice president for academic administration and interim vice president for academic affairs. He is married to Shirley, and they have two grown sons, Barrie and Kevin_________________________________________________

Dr. Gary Sivewright
Vice President for Campus Ministries
Sivewright began his work at MVNU in the fall of 1991. Before coming to Mount Vernon, he served as youth pastor in Oklahoma and Kansas, editor of Bread and Teens Today, and director of Nazarene Youth International ministries. He has authored six books, speaks to thousands each year across the U.S. and is a frequent contributor to Holiness Today magazine. Sivewright is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University, Nazarene Theological Seminary, and earned his doctorate from George Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. His latest project is “Gary Sivewright's FamilyWorks,” a seminar to aid local churches in their ministry to the family. Gary and his wife, Carol, are the parents of Chad and Jason.

J. Keith Newman
Vice President for Enrollment Services and Student Development
Vice President for University Advancement and Strategic Marketing
Newman joined the MVNU family in 2002 from a senior pastor position in San Diego, California. Previously he held other pastoral positions in Texas and Arkansas, and served nine years in the Houston Police Department. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Houston Baptist University, his master’s degree from Southern Nazarene University and is currently working in a doctoral program. Newman has served on numerous boards and committees, including the board of trustees at SNU. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, is married to Carolyn, and has two children, Andy and Laney.

Richard Raymond
Vice President for Finance and Management
Raymond has served in this position at MVNU since 1990. Prior to that, he served as director of Administration and Finance, assistant director for Administration, administrative officer and project coordinator at The George Washington University Biostatistics Center, Washington, D.C. He has also been a consultant, business manager and assistant principal in Virginia and a staff assistant for a U.S. senator and member of Congress. He received his B.A. from The George Washington University School of Public and International Affairs. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and College and University Personnel Association. He and his wife, Inger, have two married daughters, Amy and Lisa, and one grandson, Chase.
