Education:

• 1998, Ph.D. Ohio State University, Department of Communication. Title of dissertation: "Perspective Criticism: An Extension of Epistemic Rhetorical Theory to Rhetorical Criticism." Major focus: Classical rhetorical theory. Secondary focus: rhetorical criticism and the history of American public address.
• 1986, M.A., University of Dayton, Communication
• 1980, B.A., Cum Laude, Olivet Nazarene University, Pychology/Speech Communication

Professional Experience:

• 1986 to present: Professor of Communication, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
• 1985-2012 Director of the Drama program, responsible for all drama activities and curriculum on campus
• 2003 – 2009: Chair of the Department of Communication.
• 1999 to 2009: Professor of Communication: Adjunct, Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary. Manila, Philippines.

Awards and Recognition:

• Community Service Award, Knox County Health Department for directing the Family Life Theater, 1988-89.
• Volunteer Service Award, Mount Vernon High School, Knox County Health Department, Family Life Theater, 1990.
• 2012 Named an “Honor Teacher” by the North Central Ohio district Church of the Nazarene for teaching adult Sunday School at Apple Valley Shepard’s House church.
• 2012 Won 89 blue ribbons for horticulture, including 3 Best in Show, and 1 Sweepstakes award for winning the most blue ribbons at a single show.

Published Works & Presentations:

• Fall 2004, Presented at the Diversity Workshop on MVNU Campus, on a panel concerning community connections.
• Summer 2010: presented a seminar on public speaking for pastors at PALCON “Making Messages Memorable.”
• February 2012: Presented a paper entitled “BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!” Interpreting Words and Images in Revelation.” At the John A. Knight Conference on Bible and Theology at MVNU.
