English Program Objectives

Students who achieve the outcomes of the English program will:

  • demonstrate an appreciation for and knowledge of canonical and contemporary literature;
  • exhibit analytical and critical skills in reading;
  • master writing, research, and presentation skills related to the study of English;
  • analyze literature from multiple perspectives while engaging its social, theological, and personal implications; and
  • articulate what it means to think Christianly about language, literature, and interpretation.

  • evidence proficiency in the methodology of teaching writing, literacy, and literature.
