Financial Aid

Student Financial Advisors are available to assist you with financial aid. You are encouraged to begin the process early. Please follow this link for more information: http://www.mvnu.edu/gps/admissions/financial_aid.asp.

For those who qualify, some financial assistance may be available. Students who wish to apply for federal financial assistance are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may complete and submit the application electronically at the web site www.fafsa.ed.gov. The school code number is E00782. Please enter this number when filing your FAFSA.

Employer Tuition Reimbursement

Some employers offer tuition assistance. Check with your Human Resources department to see what assistance is offered.

Payment Plan Options

  1. The student pays the entire payment period’s tuition by the first night of class.
  2. The student pays the tuition for each individual class by the first night of each class.
  3. The student applies for financial aid. Any outstanding balance after financial aid is applied is the responsibility of the student.
  4. GPS receives a voucher from the student’s employer stating how much the employer will pay. The student must pay for any amount not covered by the employer by the first night of each class.
  5. GPS receives a letter from the student’s employer stating how much the employer will pay and clearly stating the student’s name and Social Security number. If the assistance is not grade dependent, payment will be due the first day of class. If the payment is grade dependent, payment is due 4 weeks after each course is completed.

Note: If payment is not received in a timely manner, the student will not be permitted to attend class and may be withdrawn from the institution. This policy will be strictly enforced.

Leave of Absence

Federal regulations require that a student not have a break in his/her attendance of more than 45 days. A break in attendance that is 46 days or more requires one of the following:

  • Fill the break with another course
  • Be on an approved Leave of Absence
  • Withdraw from MVNU

Tuition Refunds

  • 100% refund is given for a course that is dropped prior to the first night of class. Any course that is not dropped prior to the first night of class will be billed to the student's account.
  • If documentation is received from the retention specialist that a grade for a course has been changed from an X to a W, a refund will be given for that course. See the "Dropping a Course" section of Academic Information for details on X grade changes.)
  • Students who withdraw from the University will be billed through the course that was last attended.

Returned Checks

A processing fee will be assessed for any check that is returned due to insufficient funds.
