Business Program Objectives

Upon completing their undergraduate degree program, students will demonstrate:

  • an understanding of the theories and principles of business;
  • an understanding of the functional areas of business and their interrelationships with organizations;
  • the ability to reflect upon and clarify personal and professional values systems, applying biblical and ethical principles to organizational decision-making;
  • effective critical thinking skills;
  • the ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and logically through effective oral and written communication skills;

Note: All prerequisites for Business Department courses require a grade of "C-" or better. Bachelor of Science in Accounting

Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting have three options.

  • To major in Accounting with no specializations. Students who choose this option must earn a minor, a second major, or a business concentration. If a minor in the Jetter School of Business is chosen, it must include at least 12 credit hours not duplicated in the major. A minimum of 124 credit hours are required for the degree.
  • To major in Accounting - Certified Management Accountant concentration, which meets the educational requirements to sit for the Ohio Certified Management Accountant examination. No minor or second major is required for this option. A minimum of 124 credit hours are required for the degree.
  • To major in Accounting - Certified Public Accounting concentration, which meets the educational requirements to sit for the Ohio Certified Public Accountant examination. This is a 150-credit-hour program, which is designed as a five [5] year program. No minor or second major is required for this option.

All required accounting courses numbered 3000 or above must be completed at MVNU unless approved in advance by the accounting faculty.
