Our Christian Perspective

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is in existence "for Christ and His Kingdom" and our Counseling Center staff members are Christians who see their work as having a Christ-centered purpose. We believe that Christian counseling is an activity endorsed by God to help His people who are distressed, uncertain and hurting. It is our desire to obey the scriptural directive in Galatians 6: 2, when we are instructed to "bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Our goal is to apply counseling techniques that are both professionally sound and consistent with the Christian faith. Our staff at MVNU is expected to adhere to the standards of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, the professional ethics of the American Psychological Association, and the legal ethics mandated by the State of Ohio.
