The Mount Vernon Nazarene University
cheerleading program stresses academic
excellence as well as developing leadership,
teamwork, physical conditioning, and a
positive attitude in a Christ-centered
atmosphere.The
cheerleaders of Mount Vernon Nazarene
University soar to new heights both on and
off the court. MVNU cheerleaders are
dedicated student-athletes who carry on the
mission of providing an opportunity for
ministry through athletics.

Cougar cheerleaders
perform at basketball games. Cheerleading
tryouts are held in the spring for returning
students and in the fall for freshmen and
transfer students. Material needed for
tryouts is taught during the week of clinics
prior to tryouts. For more information or

The cheerleaders
participate in fund raisers throughout the
school year. Some of those include the
annual Phonathon, cheer clinics, and hosting
a cheer and dance competition for junior
high and high school students.
