MVNU Cheerleaders

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University cheerleading program stresses academic excellence as well as developing leadership, teamwork, physical conditioning, and a positive attitude in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

The cheerleaders of Mount Vernon Nazarene University soar to new heights both on and off the court.  MVNU cheerleaders are dedicated student-athletes who carry on the mission of providing an opportunity for ministry through athletics.

2007-2008 MVNU Cheerleaders from left to right: (Row 1) Amber Shea, Megan Morey, Amy Miller, Dessie Hein, and Kim Giauque; (Row 2) Monica Schultz, Joy Fleagle, Valarie Loney, and Ashley Vetter; (Row 3) Coach Jill Spearman, Stephanie Warner, and Holly Foltz; (Row 4) Wayne Hamrick, Abram DeWeese, Chris Thompson, and The Cougar.

Cougar cheerleaders perform at basketball games.  Cheerleading tryouts are held in the spring for returning students and in the fall for freshmen and transfer students.  Material needed for tryouts is taught during the week of clinics prior to tryouts.  For more information or to have any questions, please feel free to contact the cheerleading coach, Jill Spearman, at (740) 392-5455 or jspearma@mvnu.edu.

The cheerleaders participate in fund raisers throughout the school year.  Some of those include the annual Phonathon, cheer clinics, and hosting a cheer and dance competition for junior high and high school students.
