Mount Vernon Nazarene University: Life Changing

Ways to Remain Involved

  1. Pray for our school. This is often an overlooked aspect of alumni relations. We desperately need God’s guidance and direction at MVNU. You can help us by committing to pray for our leadership, decisions that need to be made, and our faculty, staff, and students.
  2. Keep us updated with your information. If you move, get married, have a child, or start a new job let us know. We want to stay connected with you, so please inform us of your changes. Specifically, you can list your email address on our alumni directory or you can send us information for “The Grapevine” published in Mount Vernon Now. Email information to:
  3. Attend alumni events. We are adding more and more opportunities for you to get together. Homecoming is not the only alumni gathering we have. As time and budget allow, we are extending the borders of our travel to include additional sites for connecting with you and enabling you to connect with each other. These are great times of fellowship, information and encouragement. When we come to your area, make an effort to join us. You won’t be disappointed!
  4. Volunteer. We can use your help at alumni events. There are a growing number of events on campus and our alumni are always welcome to assist in a variety of ways. Some on campus events include: Move-In Day, Alumni Day, Homecoming, and Commencement. We also need volunteers to host alumni events, lead area alumni societies or chapters, and help us make arrangements for events on the road.
  5. Career networking. We are continually looking for alumni to speak at Alumni Day, held annually on Homecoming Friday, where alumni from various careers come to campus to speak in classrooms. We also need alumni to work with our students in job shadowing and internships. There is potential for alumni to hire our graduates or other alumni.
  6. Student recruiting. Who better to recruit students than our alumni? Share your experiences at MVNU with family members, friends and children of friends. Encourage potential students to visit the school and learn more about us. The Admissions Office has literature, information, and assistance, as you need them.
  7. University Fund Phonathon. Every year, February through April we hold the University Fund Phonathon. This fundraiser raises funds for student scholarships. If you would like to volunteer some time in the evening to make some phone calls, please contact
  8. Support MVNU financially. We encourage all of our alumni to be involved in giving back to the school in a financial way. Some can give more than others, but everybody can give something. Give so that others can have the opportunity to experience what we have experienced.
