Chaplain (LTC) Dan Burris (’89) has been activated with the Ohio Army National Guard for his second tour overseas. He is serving in OIF as the brigade chaplain for the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Dan and his wife Brenda (Thomas ’89) have five children, ages 9-17, and reside in Vandalia, Ohio. Dan had to step down from pastoring the Vandalia Church of the Nazarene when he was called to duty. |

Wendy (Rader ’95) and Chad Owens announce the birth of Caden Jace on June 28, 2007. He joins big sister Brielle (4). Chad is a district manager for Alvin’s Jewelers and Wendy is a stay-at-home mom. The Owens are also part-time missionaries with Antioch Ministries through which they raise support for existing ministries and needs overseas. The family resides in Elyria, Ohio. |

Jeremy is an associate producer for “Secret’s Out with Leonard Maltin” in Los Angeles, and Tara is in graduate school for nutrition at UCLA. Marlene (’85) Custer and husband John returned to Ohio in June 2006 after spending two years with Nazarene Mission Corps: one at the Maetang Tribal Children’s Home where Marlene taught English and both served as missionaries, and another in Manila, the Philippines, where she taught second grade at Faith Academy and John worked in the business office at Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary. The Custers welcome opportunities to speak about their mission experiences. |

Casey (’00) and Holley (Bente ’99) Tygrett welcomed their first child, daughter Bailey Harp, on May 10, 2007. She weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and measured 21 inches in length. Casey is the preaching minister at Emden Christian Church and an adjunct professor at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary, where he began his doctoral studies in summer 2007. Holley is the director of Human Resources at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The family resides in Illinois. |

Sarah Gemmel (’02) married Dave Miller on July 16, 2006, at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, Ohio. Sarah is the assistant choir director at Elyria High School and teaches elementary band at Franklin Elementary in Elyria. She also serves as accompanist for the Promise Choir at Bay Presbyterian. Dave is employed as the director of Distance Learning for the Educational Service Center of Lorain County. They reside in Avon Lake. |

Larry (’77) and Pamela (Conner ’76) Allen traveled to Germany for Christmas 2006 to visit their son Anthony (attended ’01-’02), who is stationed in Grafenwoehr and works in military intelligence. The Allens’ daughter, Kamela Owen, is a 2003 graduate. Larry serves as a pastor in Batavia, Ohio, and Pamela is a school librarian at A.D. Owens Elementary School. |

Ray (’83) and Diane (Skelton ’77) Bridges manage the largest boarding kennel in Indianapolis. In the fall of 2006, it was presented with the Ethics in Business Award by the Better Business Bureau. This award was given to only three businesses in the 46-county area of central Indiana. Their love for animals exceeds only their love for the Indianapolis Colts. They traveled to the ProBowl in February after Ray won the trip by being named the “DISH Network Ultimate Football Fan.” |

David (’96) and Carina (Hilbert ’97) Gunnerson are grateful for their church family at St. Elias Orthodox Church who have helped them through a stressful year. Carina faced surgery on what may have been kidney cancer while David is in the process of changing jobs to work in a better internal medicine practice.
