ARTICLE V - Alumni Council

Section 1.  Composition

 A.        Executive Committee

1.         President

2.         Vice President

3.         Lay Alumni Representative to the Board of Trustees

4.         Clergy Alumni Representative to the Board of Trustees

5.         Secretary

 B.        Alumni Council

Seven (7) Members At-large including at least one (1) alumnus/alumna from each decade of graduating classes, and at least two (2) alumni residing outside of the MVNU region.

 C.        Ex officio Members

1.                  Director of Alumni Relations and University Fund

2.                  Vice President for University Advancement

3.                  Current senior class president

 

Section 2. Terms of Office

 A.                 Officers shall be elected for a term of three years, such term to              commence September 1 of the election year.  Terms of office expire August 31 at the conclusion of three years of service.

B.         Council members shall serve a term of three years, limited to two consecutive terms unless elected as an officer.

 

Section 3. Meetings and Quorum

 A.        The Alumni Council shall hold two meetings annually.  The fall meeting shall be in conjunction with Homecoming and the spring meeting shall be on the Saturday following the Board of Trustees meeting in March.  The spring meeting shall involve reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses of the members attending.

B.         The President shall have the authority to call special meetings of the Executive Committee at his/her own discretion, or upon the request of at least three members of the Committee.  The Executive Committee shall have authority to call special meetings of the Alumni Council.

C.        The Executive Committee shall be empowered to conduct the business of the Association in the interim between meetings of the Alumni Council.

D.        A quorum of the Executive Committee and/or the Alumni Council shall consist of at least fifty percent (50%) of its voting members.

 

Section 4. Committees

The President of the Association in consultation with the Director of Alumni Relations may appoint standing committees and ad hoc committees as needed.
