PHILOSOPHY DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Theology and Philosophy Department can help you prepare for effective pastoral ministry; for specialized service in missions, evangelism, or worship leadership; or for any number of careers grounded in philosophical training (higher education, law, professional writing, etc.). Our programs equip students for a wide range of church-related positions and for admission to graduate school.

As a philosophy major you’ll be able to design a flexible program combining philosophy with other components such as literature, history, sociology, psychology, and communication. You’ll learn to analyze and synthesize, to think abstractly and critically, and to develop sound arguments for your beliefs.

Dialoguing with others about the deep questions about reality, knowledge, and life will help you gain proficiency in logic, ethics, and metaphysics,n and to articulate a truly Christian worldview.

Whether your goal is to be a pastor, associate pastor, worship leader, or other staff minister in a local church, an evangelist, missionary, inner-city minister, or fully prepared for graduate school or seminary in religion/theology, philosophy, or law, a degree from MVNU in theology and philosophy will help get you there!
