The School of Nursing at Mount Vernon Nazarene University was initiated in response to interest expressed by prospective students in a four-year baccalaureate program in nursing and the desire from local hospital administrators for college-educated nurses. Consistent with the Church of the Nazarene’s history, the program of nursing prepares a workforce of nurses to serve the poor and vulnerable in our population.
The School of Nursing is an excellent fit with the mission of Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks to:
provide a rigorous academic program that encourages scholarship, critical reflection, and problem solving;
promote a distinctly Christian lifestyle within the Wesleyan evangelical tradition; and
offer a supportive environment that inspires students to achieve their highest potential spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically as they prepare for careers and meaningful service to God and humankind, wherever their vocation choices under the leadership of God take them.
The faculty of the School of Nursing at Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks to educate nurse leaders in a Christ-like environment to meet the healthcare needs of the community through the ministry of nursing.
