Baccalaureate Degree Completion for RNs
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University School of Nursing and Health Sciences is pleased to introduce a baccalaureate completion program for registered nurses. This program is being offered at our Mount Vernon campus beginning in February 2008. Registered nurses with degrees from accredited associate or diploma granting programs are eligible to apply.
The program offers a convenient schedule for working adults that enables registered nurses to earn their bachelor’s degree in nursing in four semesters. Students can choose from a number of courses conveniently taking place one day a week in the fall, spring, and summer terms.

Classes take place at the Mount Vernon Campus.
The baccalaureate degree provides:
- Expanded practice opportunities for nurses in an increasingly complex health care industry
- Strong scientific and liberal arts foundations
- Evidence-based nursing science core
The need for professional nurses is great, and will continue to grow. This program will provide the knowledge and skill level to position nurses for career advancement in the rapidly changing health care field.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Apply to the MVNU Nursing program
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Pass criminal background check and have a negative drug screening
- Health screening/immunizations up to date
- Valid, unencumbered license to practice nursing (RN) in Ohio
- Malpractice insurance
- Proficiency in English language
- Submit transcript(s) with a minimum of 56 semester hours (84 quarter hours) from college or university courses.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS (total of 133 hours required)
- 6 semester hours in English composition or the completion of the English composition capstone course
- 3 semester hours in mathematics must be MAT2063G Introduction to Statistics
- 9 semester hours in the arts and humanities
- 6 semester hours in the social and behavioral sciences
- 6 semesters in the natural sciences
- 9 semester hours in liberal arts electives
- 33 semester hours nursing major requirements (NUR3043, NUR3023, NUR3033, NUR3003, NUR4004, NUR3042, NUR4088, NUR4092, NUR4022, NUR4033, BIB3033)
TUITION AND FEES FOR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (NURSING)
- Tuition is $375.00/semester hour for Spring 2008
- Lab fees of $200 will be assessed for all clinical nursing courses:
- NUR3023 Health Assessment for RNs
- NUR4004 Nursing Concepts in Community Health
- NUR4088 Clinical Nurse Leadership
- No application fee. Upon acceptance, a $100 tuition deposit is required.
