Pre-Medical

Core Science Classes

Nearly all health professional schools require that you take the following classes during your undergraduate pre-medical training.

Biology

Minimum of one year of biology

• At MVNU, General Zoology is required, and most students also take General Botany.
  
• Advance biology classes, including Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Vertebrate Physiology, are highly recommended.
  

Chemistry

• General Chemistry I-II with laboratory
  
• Organic Chemistry I-II with laboratory
  
• All schools recommend Biochemistry; some require it
  

Mathematics

• Many schools require Calculus I
  
• Statistics is strongly recommended
  

Physics

• General Physics I-II with laboratory
  

Humanities

• One year of English composition is always required. At MVNU the appropriate courses are titled Expository Writing and Research Writing.
  
• Medical schools strongly recommend courses in history and literature that involve extensive collateral reading
