As a result of participating in this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the roles of observations, laws, hypotheses, and theories in the scientific method of investigation.
- Recognize the strengths and the limitations of the scientific method.
- Appreciate the validity of Scriptural teachings on the nature of the physical world, on health and medicine, and on environmental stewardship.
- Recognize major contributions to science made by men and women of the Judeo-Christian faith.
- Understand the historic confrontations that have arisen between literal Biblical interpretation and the scientific view of natural events.
- Discuss the religious, scientific and legal issues that are inherent in the present creationism controversy, and appreciate the broad spectrum of views that are held within the Christian community.
- Recognize the dangers posed by narrow and dogmatic interpretations of science or Scripture.
- Clearly articulate your personal interpretation of key Scripture passages that speak to the origin and nature of the physical world and of biological life.
