HISTORY DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Divisionals Cover PageWhat does our History Department offer you? A major in history will help open the door to career opportunities—teaching in high school or at the university level, preparing for law school, working in museums, libraries, archives, or serving as a research specialist in government or business. Or you might consider a minor in history. History is particularly relevant to such majors as business, English, sociology, art, psychology, religion, and philosophy-humanities.

You could spend the spring semester living and studying in Eastern Europe as part of our distinctive study abroad program, the MVNU Semester in Hungary. Or you could consider one of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities semester programs in, for example, Russia, China, or England.

Beyond that, history can be the most interesting subject you study because it is the story of kings who wear red, high-heeled shoes; scientists who make discoveries by accident; and battles that turn on a commander's upset stomach. It is important for us to know about the lives of those who came before us and understand what they did. We can learn a great deal about ourselves in the process.
